Welcome To The Home Of San Diego Skepticism!
The San Diego Association for Rational Inquiry (SDARI) is an educational and investigative organization which advocates the application of scientific method and open rational inquiry to extraordinary claims of all kinds. The goals of SDARI are discussed on our Purposes page.
Many irrational beliefs and untested claims are promulgated in the San Diego, California area. A goal of SDARI is to supply the public with the scientific facts in these matters, thereby providing a critical educational service to our community.
SDARI is loosely affiliated with the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI), publishers of Skeptical Inquirer magazine.
Regular SDARI Meetings
Regular SDARI meetings are held monthly (except December) at 7:00 pm on the fourth Sunday at the Uptown Community Center in the Hillcrest section of San Diego. Meetings last about 1-1/2 hours, and are free (donation accepted; $5 suggested) and open to the public. Social time beginning at about 6:10 pm precedes the meetings; bring your own food if you wish and join us.
This year MAY is our Science Fair Month
Each year SDARI awards prizes to several participants in the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair which have demonstrated rational and critical thinking in their projects. Our May meeting is devoted to the prize winners; they and their projects will be on display.
For event details see the SDARI Scheduled Events page. Detailed driving directions and maps are on our Meeting Directions page.
SDARI does not hold a meeting in December.
NOTE: During a past meeting one of the attendees had his car towed. Please be sure that you are not parked in a 15 minute or other restricted zone as these are enforced 24/7. The Community Center requests that we park in the underground parking garage in spaces not designated for residents.
