A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation. Lend and borrow to the maximum.
-Henry Miller, novelist (1891-1980)

Description

This is SDARI's lending library of books, DVD and VHS videos, audio tapes, and magazines concerning skepticism, rational inquiry, and related subjects. The library is organized first by the time of item, then by the owner of each item, and then the items are listed in alphabetical order by the author, editor, or publisher. The Date column generally indicates when the item was first published, not necessarily the date of the copy listed. Where feasible, item titles are links to web pages describing the item.

Do you have items like these on skeptical or scientific subjects that you would be willing to lend? Contact our to have your items added to the list.

Items can be borrowed by SDARI members for a period mutually agreeable to the owner and the borrower. Pickup/delivery should be negotiated directly also. Owners are responsible for maintaining information about who has borrowed which of their items.

To "check out" (borrow) an item from this library, contact the item's owner directly by e-mail (click on their name below), or by phone where indicated, or contact the SDARI for information on how to contact the owner.

Please return items directly to the owner as soon as no longer needed so others may borrow them.

Libraries are as Forrests, in which not only tall Cedars and Oaks are to be found, but Bushes too and dwarfish Shrubs; and as in Apothecaries Shops all sorts of Drugs are permitted to be, so may all sort of Books be in a Library: And as they out of Vipers and Scorpions, and poisoning Vegetables, extract often wholesome Medicaments, for the Life of Mankind; so out of whatsoever Book, good Instructions and Examples may be acquired.
- William Drummond, in The Works of William Drummond of Hawthornden (1711).
